Start Times

First wave goes off Sunday morning at 7 AM. There will be approximately 4 waves by age groups with 5 minutes in between each wave. Transition opens at 5:15 AM on Sunday morning.

There are 16 aid stations on the run course and a bottle exchange at the 18 and 36 mile mark on the bike course. Aid is as follows:

Refund Policy

There are no refunds. Injured athletes that volunteer for at least 4 hours can earn a deferral for next year. Please sign up here by Sept 1 and write “defer 2011” in the comments field year.

Race Cutoffs

You must be able to complete the events within the following cut off times to avoid being pulled from the course for safety reasons:

  • Swim: 1 hour and 10 minutes
  • Swim/Bike: 5:10 hours
  • Swim/Bike/Run: 8 hours

Awards - Total Purse is $4500

Awards will be presented to:

  • Top 3 Male & Top 3 Female overall
  • Top 3 Male & Top 3 Female for each 5 yr age group
  • Top 3 Clydesdales (Men 200+ lbs)
  • Top 3 Athenas (Women 150+ lbs)
  • Top 3 Relay Teams
  • Overall winners for CEO, Tri Club, and First Responders categories

Post Race Food

Post race there will be pizza, bananas, smart water, Gatorade endurance, water and bagels.

Race BBQ

A BBQ for all athletes will be held on Sunday starting at 2:00 pm at the Finish Line Festival. We are serving chicken, pasta salad, salad, rolls, chips, and drinks. This BBQ is included in your entry. Additional tickets will be available for family and friends at the packet pick up.

 

Expo

This year's Toughman Expo will take place at Croton Point Park during bag pickup on Saturday Sept 11th from 1-6pm. We encourage you to visit the greatly expanded the Expo that includes:
Red Bull, Avia, Garmen, Timex, TravelStix, Paragon Sports, Sunrise Tri, Westchester Road Runners, Ridgewood Cycle, Target Training, PRK Bike Store, True Motion Apparel, Coleman, BMW of Mt Kisco, PowerBar, Xterra Wetsuits, Polar, and The Toughman Store with food and refreshments from the Croton Boosters as well as Shoprite of Croton. Habitat for Humanity, The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, The Boomer Esiason Foundation for Cystic Fibrosis, and Cooley's Anemia will also have booths to disseminate information.

Products will be available to rent for race day, or sample, view, and purchase. The vendor expo will be available for spectators Saturday, and Sunday during the adult race.

Directions

  • From Saw Mill River Pkwy - take exit 26 for Taconic Pkwy toward Albany (north)
  • Take Taconic 6.2 miles to the exit onto Briarcliff Peekskill Pkwy/100/9A north
  • Follow Briarcliff Peekskill Pkwy/9A north to the Croton Point exit.
  • Turn left at Croton Point Ave and follow signs and marshal directions.

Race Distance

Swim 1.2 miles, Bike 56 miles, Run 13.1 miles

Insurance

You must be a member of USA Triathlon to compete in the race, including each relay member. If you do not have an annual membership, you must purchase a one-day membership for $10 during the registration process.

Relay $300
Prices increase by $25 on June 1st, and another $25 on August 1st.

Rules

The race is a USAT sanctioned race so USAT rules are in effect. You must wear an ANSI-approved helmet during the entire cycling event. Headphones for music are prohibited during the race.

Age Requirements

You must be 15 years old or older to participate in the Toughman race.

Packet Pick-Up

Athlete check-in and chip distribution will take place on Saturday 9/11 from noon to 5:30pm at the finish line.
Check-in will also be available on Sunday morning from 5:15-6:15 am, but we strongly encourage athletes to check in on Saturday.

You are required to bring photo proof of identity. There are no entry transfers or substitutions.
Participants who swap or sell their race number will not be allowed to race, lose all entry fees and will be subject to disciplinary action by USAT.

Bike Check & Briefings

You may check your bike into transition on Saturday 12-6pm (again, highly suggested but NOT mandatory). Overnight security is provided. The Race Director will hold race briefings at 2pm and 4pm on Saturday.
